Notes on the Portuguese vocabulary files

The Portuguese vocabulary files supplied with Interlex adhere to the following conventions:

• Nouns are preceded by the definite article, which is not translated.
• Nouns of variable gender are preceded by o/a.
• Adjectives appear in the masculine singular.
• Irregular and semi-regular nouns and adjectives are followed by either (a) the plural ending alone, e.g. anel (-éis), or (b) the feminine singular, masculine plural and feminine plural endings, e.g. professor (-a -es -as).
