Notes on the French vocabulary files
The French vocabulary files supplied with Interlex adhere to the following conventions:
- Nouns are preceded by the definite article, which is not translated.
- Gender is indicated if it cannot be deduced from the article, e.g. l'argent, les loisirs.
- Nouns of variable gender are preceded by le/la or l'. In the latter case the gender is indicated as m. or f.
- Adjectives are given in both genders. If the feminine is formed by adding to the masculine, the ending appears in brackets, e.g. amusant(e), favori(te). Otherwise the two forms are separated by a slash, e.g. beau/belle, sec/sèche.
